The third Android 13 Beta 3 for the Pixel smartphones was surprisingly released last night, which fixed a number of annoying problems of the previous release. However, the new version also brought an update for the Pixel Launcher, which has two small improvements in its luggage: a new icon for Google Lens and the automatic display of the keyboard in the app drawer.
Show keyboard in the app drawer
The Pixel Launcher is an integral part of Pixel smartphones and is frequently updated as part of Android updates. With Android 13 Beta 3.2, which was released yesterday evening, the next version comes with two small improvements. In the options, you can now specify that the keyboard app should be started automatically when the app drawer is opened. This enables quick filtering, but of course, also reduces the space for listing the apps. By default it is disabled.
New Google Lens icon
Sometimes even small changes take a little longer: A new icon for Google Lens was announced in March 2021, but it’s only now – 15 months later – making it into the Pixel Launcher. The new icon can be seen on the right side and very clearly shows a camera, letting users know that a tap will open the camera. Previously, a viewfinder was used, which might have looked better as a logo, but wasn’t self-explanatory.
