During the I/O 2022 developer conference, Google has shown us a glimpse of the Pixel Watch smartwatch. In addition to the recently revealed chip and battery specifications, 9to5Google has now exposed a large number of Pixel Watch straps. It is reported that as the company’s first wearable device, the Pixel Watch uses a proprietary wristband system that is easy for users to replace.
Compared with competing products, the Pixel Watch does not use a simple snap-in strap, but has a certain angle of inclination and needs to slide into place. As for the real-life experience, it remains to be seen. In terms of style, a variety of colors and materials were displayed during the event. The standard version is soft-touch silicone (with a Fitbit-like Infinity Bands buckle).

In addition, according to sources familiar with the matter, Google is preparing at least seven straps for the Pixel Watch (but not all of them will be available). In addition to the usual silicone straps, many are looking at Milanese-inspired high-end woven stainless steel mesh/link models. Magnetic clasp similar to Apple Watch, available in silver, black and gold. Consumers who like the Rolex/Omega classic solid metal strap also have a high probability of taking it home when it first launches.
For reference, the starting price of the Apple Watch’s metal strap is around $349, while the Fossil three-row stainless steel strap is around $50. If you like a fabric strap with some stretch, a version similar to Apple’s Braided Solo Loop will also be very wallet-friendly. However, considering that the Pixel Watch uses a custom buckle, it may be difficult for consumers to choose from a large number of third-party watch straps.
