After Elon Musk issued a layoff warning, Tesla officially started layoffs and has stepped up efforts. On Wednesday morning, local time, 11 posts by Tesla employees on the professional networking site LinkedIn showed that they were fired for the round of layoffs. By the end of 2021, Tesla has 100,000 employees. Musk has previously said that he is feeling bad about the economic situation and will lay off 10% of salaried employees.
The layoffs appear to have started last week and are already accelerating. Of the 11 layoff posts above, nine were posted this week and two were posted late last week. The layoffs were drawn from various parts of the company, including a project leader, a computer three-dimensional (CGI) animation leader, employee trainers and a regional warehouse manager.
The laid-off employees appear to have extensive work experience. The head of CGI animation said in his post that he has been with Tesla for six and a half years. “I am sad to leave,” he wrote, “I really enjoy my work and I am proud of the work I have created.
