Last week, display industry analyst Ross Young said that according to supply chain sources, Apple was planning to launch a new 14.1-inch iPad Pro, but he later revised the forecast and now believes that the device may be a standard iPad.
In a tweet shared with superfans today, Young confirmed that the 14-inch iPad will not feature a Mini-LED display. He also said that the 14-inch iPad is unlikely to feature a ProMotion refresh rate. Given that all iPad Pro models released since 2017 have ProMotion, the device may not be labeled as an iPad Pro.
It may sound odd that Apple’s biggest iPad won’t be a Pro model, but Young has accurately revealed many details about future Apple products. Apple may release new iPads in the first quarter of 2023.
In another tweet, Young reiterated that the next-generation 11-inch iPad Pro is not expected to feature a Mini-LED screen, although the larger 12.9-inch iPad Pro will feature the technology in April 2021. Apple is expected to update the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros with M2 chips.
