Many new details have emerged on Street Fighter 6 from an IGN Japan interview with director Takayuki Nakayama and producer Shuhei Matsumoto, two of the key figures in the game’s development.
According to their words, the development of Street Fighter 6 began in 2018. Nakayama (the director of Street Fighter 5 at the time), wrote a 92-page document explaining his vision of the game, which included the fighting ground, the battle hub and the world tour. Many of the proposals contained in those pages were incorporated into the final game, including the three features mentioned above, which became the pillars of the game.
All three modes were conceived as completely autonomous, that is as if they were individual games. So each will have a large amount of dedicated content, so much so that the development team seemed to develop three different titles instead of one.
The World Tour mode will initially be set in Metro City, in the United States, but as we understand from the interview in the future there will be other places that can be visited: “Well, it’s a World Tour. I can’t tell you anything for sure for now, but in the future, you will know more. Our goal is to create an experience that allows you to travel around the world becoming stronger. ”
The idea, therefore, is that over time various locations will be added, with new fighters, allowing players to take a real-world tour, in search of perfection.
Of course, the team’s focus remained on creating the best Street Fighter possible, paying particular attention to the combat system. For the rest we remind you that Street Fighter 6 is in development for PC, Xbox Series X and S, PS4 and PS5.
