Google’s Chrome OS has gained huge popularity over the past few years, and the operating system’s development team is working hard to make it even more powerful with new features. The team is currently working on new features to improve the program’s split-screen experience on its desktop operating system.
Chrome Story found that a new commit on Chromium Gerrit indicates that the ability to grab and place two windows into split views of 2/3 and 1/3 is in development. Currently, ChromeOS allows control of two windows of the same size, and this limitation can sometimes be frustrating. While users will still be limited to two windows, Google will make life easier for a lot of people by allowing users to set the window splitting feature to multiple configurations.
Once the feature works for users, it may be possible to make feeds like social media on the desktop take up 1/3 of the screen space, while 2/3 of the area will be occupied by work apps. The new Snap experience is currently hidden behind a set marker, which is described below. Enables the option to snap two Windows into 2/3 and 1/3 for split view.
The window-slicing experience is quite useful on Windows 11, and of course, it’s set up much better than Chrome OS. The former allows multiple windows to be arranged, not just two. To be precise, Windows can grab and place up to four windows on a split-view screen. In this regard, Chrome OS has a lot of work to do to catch up with Windows 11’s multitasking capabilities.
