The Pixel 6 smartphones started off really well and with a lot of enthusiasm. Everything changed after the December update was widely distributed. It brought bug fixes, but unfortunately also new bugs.
Google only officially confirmed three weeks after the update began shipping that there were serious problems with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. They are so big and common that the December update is no longer available for the two most recent Google phones.
The delivery was stopped and Google users recommended installation of previous firmware. It’s just not that easy. It’s absolutely ridiculous that Google forced me to either factory reset my device or wait until the end of January to get cellular working, the most important feature of any phone.
Switching to an older firmware is only possible with a factory reset. So you set up the device from scratch. The joy about it is limited. You can only get around this with patience. Google has announced that they won’t be able to release the next bug fix update until late January. So, at the time of this writing, it will probably not be for another two to three weeks.
Google waited too long. The errors, which obviously occurred over a large area and could be read very quickly, were nevertheless provided for weeks via firmware update. A lousy thing for those who actually updated their devices during this period.
I can absolutely understand the displeasure of those who are currently venting their anger online and massively criticizing Google for its approach. A lousy end of last year after the Pixel 6 smartphone launch actually went very well.
