About half a year ago, Tesla showed off an electric prototype of the Cybertruck electric pickup truck during the Cyber Rodeo event. While grateful that the car has become more refined, many fans also have a deep resentment for the Cybertruck’s giant front windshield wipers.
The good news is that at the time Musk promised that the design would not be used in the production version. Recently, another prototype has been spotted that replaces the folding front wiper.
Elon Musk once mentioned in a discussion with Twitter netizens that wipers are currently the most troubled Cybertruck development team, and there is a lack of relatively simple solutions. But at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Pacific Gas & Electric showed off a slightly revised prototype of the Cybertruck, with the biggest change being a folding front wiper design.
It is reported that this Elkhorn battery energy storage facility in Moss Landing, California, uses Tesla’s Megapack to shave peaks and fill valleys in the grid. However, the ribbon-cutting video circulating on social networks such as Twitter/Instagram was silently snatched away by Cybertruck.
Sharp-eyed users found that the size of the new wiper seems to cover only half the depth of the front windshield. That means Tesla came up with an ingenious solution on a whim, like a hinge mechanism that keeps the wipers folded in half when not in use.
Neither Musk personally nor Tesla has publicly shared any information about the modified Cybertruck front wiper device. And at the PG&E event, we finally got to see a more refined working version of the earlier prototype. As for whether the production version has been finalized, it remains to be tested.
Finally, a set of Cybertruck interior photos obtained by the news media KSBW is attached. It can be seen that even if the components such as airbags are missing, the degree of completion is still quite high.
The Cybertruck has a large horizontal screen on the center console, and the rest of it seems to be unchanged (including the racing-style rectangular steering wheel). Finally, according to Musk, after a string of delays, the car will officially enter production in 2023.
