God of War: Ragnarok fans were very disappointed by the lack of game-related announcements during Summer Game Fest 2022. Many are seeing it as a sign of the postponement of the game, although in reality there are no official communications to that effect.
It must be said that Sony had never announced anything in this sense and that the rumors about the presence of the latest Sony Santa Monica effort at the Summer Game Fest were just rumors. Probably the disappointment is more related to the fact that the game can actually be postponed to 2023, so many yearn to know the official release date to be reassured.
It must be said that Sony would hardly spend a major game like God of War: Ragnarok on an event that it cannot manage directly, mixing it with many other announcements. It should also be remembered that even if there is still no release date, the announcement that we will see it in 2022 is still valid unless otherwise communicated. Probably the Japanese multinational will dedicate a monographic State of Play to the game, as done with Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7.
Finally, it should also be remembered that in recent years Sony has avoided in every possible way the period of E3, namely June, to make its announcements. So it is not clear why this year should have gone differently.
Sure, the rumors about the change of the placeholder date of the past few days may cause some concern, but in the end, it is always about movements behind the scenes that can mean very different things to what the public believes. After all, if it were postponed, it would simply mean that the development team needs more time to refine it, so, waiting aside, it wouldn’t necessarily be bad news.
