Polestar released the first uncamouflaged picture of its upcoming electric SUV Polestar 3 and announced its approximate battery life. Polestar 3, the brand’s first SUV, will make its world premiere in October 2022 and is expected to start production in the U.S. and China in early 2023, marking Polestar’s entry into the auto industry with the highest profit margin and fastest growth. One of the fastest areas, especially in the US.

The pictures show that the Polestar 3 has a very sporty side profile. Many aspects of the design are inspired by the Polestar Precept concept car, especially the headlights. Design highlights include a sloping roofline, a panoramic glass roof, heavy D-pillars, and rising window lines.

The Polestar 3 will feature a dual-motor powertrain and a large battery with a WLTP range of over 372 miles (600 kilometers). No other specs were officially announced, but Polestar said the electric SUV will offer “autonomous driving capabilities powered by Luminar’s best-in-class LiDAR sensors and centralized NVIDIA computing power.”

So far, Polestar has released only two vehicles: the $155,000 hybrid coupé Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 sedans. Polestar aims to launch one new vehicle each year for the next three years, expand to at least 30 global markets by the end of 2023, and grow sales from about 29,000 in 2021 to about 290,000 by the end of 2025.
