With the new PlayStation Plus Premium subscription option, Sony clearly wants to compete more directly with Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass. It can be seen that one of the highlights of the PS Plus premium subscription is the limited-time game trial. However, according to the prolific Tom Henderson, Microsoft seems to be planning to launch a corresponding demo service.
The report said the demo project may be launched to XGP subscribers sometime this year, but the focus will be different from Sony, such as more inclined to promote the works of independent developers.
People who choose to participate in the program will receive demo creation tools and possibly even official rewards. In contrast, Sony is said to have asked developers to do so, without discussing the details of compensation.
Closer to home, Henderson said the new demo service will be part of a package of announcements related to XGP, likely before the Summer Game Fest opening show on Thursday (June 9).
Microsoft is also expected to announce the expansion of xCloud cloud gaming to more market regions, as well as details such as the rumored Xbox streaming experience for Samsung smart TVs.
