In addition to revealing the news of Battlefield 2042 Season 1, EA DICE may have provided important clues about the future of the 128-player mode, whose fate seemed to be rather uncertain.
Previously, in fact, the company explained why the 128-player mode was removed from Battlefield 2042, at least in Breakthrough, as not considered appropriate for the type of experience offered by the game produced by Electronic Arts.
Just to clarify, we have no intention to drop 128P support for future map offerings. Players have told us this is great for some modes, but not everything.
Our focus is on building for fun, freedom, and creativity with 128P being present on future maps in Battlefield Portal too! https://t.co/Z6tQGrszvc

Some insiders then revealed that all the new maps starting from Season 2 onwards would have supported up to a maximum of 64 players only, thus suggesting the abandonment of the more substantial game option for future content. However, DICE community manager Kevin Johnson stepped in to clarify what the situation actually is.
” Just to be clear, we have no plans to drop 128 player support for future maps,” Johnson points out, adding that ” players have told us that support is great for some modes, but not all .” The community manager also specifies that the 128 users are also confirmed for the next content related to Battlefield Portal.
In short, contrary to what has emerged from the rumors, EA has no intention of abandoning the 128-player mode, which will continue to be part of the playful offer of the latest game in the series.
