In the five years since its launch, Microsoft Teams has grown exponentially to become the fastest-growing, business-focused messaging client in Microsoft history. In Windows 11, Microsoft is making Teams easier for anyone to access by integrating the feature into the taskbar.
For the past five years, Microsoft continues to release major Teams updates and features for all customers on a weekly basis. Microsoft recently confirmed that it has been making significant improvements to Teams’ performance. Teams are now noticeably faster on Windows 11 and Windows 10, according to the company.
Although the Microsoft Teams client is faster than ever, Teams 2.0 (the web-based client) is still the best performer. However, Teams 2.0 is currently only available for personal accounts. As Microsoft states in the documentation, it is not possible to use your work or school account in Teams 2.0.
Teams 2.0, the web-based client, may gain support for work and business accounts at some point in the future, Microsoft officials said in a news statement, but there is no release timetable yet.
A Microsoft official said: “Substantial resources have been allocated to the WebView2 work mentioned by business users, although I cannot comment on any timeline at this time. Fully aware of the need for continued efforts to drive this in terms of responsiveness, latency and resource utilization. Domain developments, whether short-term team benefits or long-term architectural changes to enable stepped functional improvements.”
Unlike classic Teams, Microsoft’s new Teams 2.0 ditches Angular in favor of React.js, a new open-source front-end JavaScript library. React has become the most popular choice due to performance and adaptability improvements, and the new Teams client is written in React with Edge WebView-based components.
