Red Hook Studios has announced the will to postpone the 1.0 version of Darkest Dungeon 2, or the definitive one considering that the game is currently in the early access phase on the Epic Games Store, and consequently also the console versions that will arrive later.
With the release of the big update corresponding to “The Shroud of the Deep”, available in these hours with new game mechanics and improvements to the interface and gameplay in general, the team has decided to slightly modify the development plan, making smaller and more frequent updates from now on rather than bigger and more distant steps from each other.
In this general overhaul of the development process, the 1.0 version of Darkest Dungeon – the full version that will mean the exit from early access – is now scheduled for February 2023, later than previously planned.
Consequently, the console versions will also arrive later than expected, as they will be released only after the completion of work on version 1.0 for PC. In any case, development is proceeding at a brisk pace and many new features and improvements are expected also with the next update.
Among the novelties, there is a more reasoned connection system between the expeditions and a hub defined as “interesting” for the players, where they can take part in various activities.
Red Hood aims to introduce greater possibilities of meaningful choices for players and a more unitary and dynamic flow of gameplay, as well as a general enrichment of all the artistic parts with new, more characterized settings. We released a trial of Darkest Dungeon 2 last November, as well as guidance and advice for budding players.
