Once upon a time, Bluetooth was primarily used for sharing images, music, and other files. Today it is popular to wirelessly connect various devices like headphones, smartwatches, etc.
Android 13 Beta 2 introduced Bluetooth Low Energy Audio, which reduces power consumption while maintaining audio quality. And since Samsung’s One UI 5.0 will be based on Android 13, the feature should also find its way onto the Galaxy devices.
Bluetooth Low Energy Audio is the new standard for power-saving audio transmission via Bluetooth. It uses a Low Complexity Communication Codec to reduce power consumption and improve the quality of audio signals transmitted via Bluetooth.
At the same time, it adds features like location-based audio sharing, hearing aid support, and cross-device audio streaming for Android users. This multi-device audio broadcasting feature allows one audio source device to transmit a stream to multiple audio synchronization devices.
For devices with Bluetooth audio support, a new option for streaming media will appear in the media output picker. According to Google, it allows users to stream media to nearby devices or listen to another device’s broadcast. Users need to scan the QR code or input the broadcast name and password to set the broadcast media.
