The first major version update for Windows 11 is now finalized. Someone found an official document just released by Microsoft. The hardware certification page mentions that the RTM build of the Windows 11 22H2 version is 22621 (minimum version number). With the update of Windows 11, version 22H2 will be officially released this fall, and then slowly appear on all new machines and user PCs with Windows 11 installed.
In addition, Microsoft has revealed some very specific details, which appears to be the first time Microsoft has publicly acknowledged RTM details. The company wrote:
- Windows 11, version 22H2 certification build
- The minimum acceptable build for Windows 11, version 22H2 certification is RTM build(ie 22621).
From Microsoft’s words, it seems that a specific version of Windows 11 no longer exists as an RTM, and as long as the system meets the minimum version number of Build 22621, it can be delivered as the final version. Windows 11 version 22H2 will continue to be updated on new PCs or before and after the public release.
Popular science: Windows operating systems take a while to be tableted, packaged and distributed before they are officially put on the shelves in retail stores. Therefore, the program code must be completed sometime before the official release, and the completed program code is called Final.Code.
RTM stands for Release to Manufacturing or Release to Marketing, the version delivered to OEMs and markets. About two weeks ago, Microsoft first pushed Windows 11 build 22621 to the Beta channel. At that time, Microsoft pointed out that “the version watermark in the lower right corner of the desktop no longer exists, but the watermark will reappear in the new version in the future”, which obviously does mean that it has completed the selection of the 22H2 version, and there are reports that Microsoft An RTM version may be delivered to OEMs today.
Looking at it now, Microsoft did choose the 22H2 version, but Microsoft did not do it publicly. It is understood that Windows 11 Build 22621 was released to the Beta channel as early as May 11, along with an SDK. In addition, Microsoft also provided ISO files for everyone to download at that time, so if you want to experience the first major update of Windows 11 in advance, you can download the 22H2 Beta version now.
