Google rarely updates the Calculator app, and the last major update dates back to September 2021 when the Mountain View company introduced the Material You design with Dynamic Color. The Google Calculator app recently received an update designed for mobile devices with a large display such as tablets.
Google Calculator 8.2 improves the interface on tablets
Prior to this update, the Google Calculator UI on tablets was just the horizontal version of the smartphone app with additional functions shown to the left of the numeric keypad. With version 8.2 the interface no longer takes up the entire width of the screen and most of the extra features can be hidden when not needed.
In this way the other buttons take on a pill shape instead of circular and consequently, the “display” area becomes larger. The “History” section now appears as a column on the left always visible and to access the previous calculations it is no longer necessary to lower the screen and hide the keys.
This new two-column interface allows you to take advantage of the full screen on a tablet and improves multitasking, however, it remains available in simplified mode using the tablet vertically.
Google Calculator 8.2 is being released via the Google Play Store but is not widely available yet. To update the app you can use the badge below, or download the latest version APK file from APKMirror and install it manually.
