PlayStation 4 is now the fifth best-selling console ever in the United States, the Sony platform occupied fourth place in this ranking until April but was surpassed by Nintendo Switch, a console that in five years has sold more in North America than it has made PS4 since November 2013.
Nintendo Switch has sold 107 million consoles worldwide since March 2017 while PS4 has surpassed 117 million, about ten million more pieces in spite of a time advantage on the release of more than three years, confirming how the platform of the Kyoto company has established itself on the market with important numbers, enjoying considerable success.
US NPD HW – Lifetime unit sales of Nintendo Switch have now surpassed those of PlayStation 4, making it the 4th highest unit selling console in U.S. history, and the 6th highest unit selling video game hardware platform overall. In console it trails only PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii.

Nintendo Switch is now the fourth best-selling console ever in the US, behind only PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, while PlayStation 4 slips to fifth place. Thanks to its hybrid nature, Nintendo Switch has conquered a very large slice of the public, conquering both adult and very young players.
Nintendo Switch has also surpassed the 3DS in Japan with over 24 million consoles distributed, the next goal is to exceed the numbers of the Nintendo DS in the land of the Rising Sun, a console that can count on over 32 million units sold.
