Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal said on Friday that he still expects the sale of the company to Elon Musk to close, but he will keep running the company in case the deal falls through.
“While I expect this deal to close, we need to be prepared for all scenarios and always do what’s good for Twitter,” Agrawal said in a tweet. “I lead and run Twitter, The job is to build a stronger Twitter every day.”
Musk tweeted earlier Friday that the deal will be put on hold until he finds out more details about how many fake accounts, such as spambots, are on the platform. As a result, Twitter shares fell nearly 10%, exacerbating the recent plunge in market value. Twitter is now worth about $13 billion less than the $44 billion Musk agreed to last month.
