The long-awaited Google Pixel Watch was finally announced at this year’s Google I/O, although few details were given. However, a report that has now been published claims that it could be equipped with the Exynos 9110 chip, which was introduced with the first Samsung Galaxy Watch four years ago.
The Pixel Watch has probably been in the works for years. The use of the current Exynos W920 in the Pixel Watch could have further slowed down development, so it seems that an emergency solution is now being used. With two Cortex-A53 cores at 10nm, the Exynos 9110 is not necessarily a bad choice. But still not what we would have expected from Google.
Another point to note is Google’s suggestion that the Snapdragon 4100+ isn’t enough for Wear OS 3. It’s unclear how this will affect the Pixel Watch, which is said to run and be optimized for Wear OS 3.
That being said, thanks to Fitbit’s built-in software and Google’s Pixel phones, the Pixel Watch will no doubt find success in the health and wellness space. The Pixel Watch is slated to launch this fall alongside the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.
