Apple released a new firmware update for AirPods 2, AirPods Max and AirPods Pro, version code 4E71, higher than the 4C165 firmware released in December last year. In addition, Apple has released a new 4E71 firmware for the AirPods 3, which is higher than the 4C170 firmware released in January.
Apple hasn’t disclosed details about the new firmware update for the AirPods, and we don’t yet know what improvements or bug fixes the new firmware brings. It’s important to note that there is currently no standard way to upgrade AirPods firmware, which is usually installed wirelessly when the AirPods are connected to an iOS device.
Putting the AirPods in the headphone case and connecting the power source, and then pairing the AirPods with the iPhone or iPad, should force an update in a short time.
Users can check the AirPods or AirPods Pro firmware by following these steps:
- Connect AirPods or AirPods Pro to your iOS device;
- Open the Settings app;
- select general;
- select about;
- select AirPods;
- Check the number next to “Firmware Version”.
