The free media center Kodi is now available in version 19.4 with some innovations. Time for us to update our guide again. Many users use Kodi because it is quite easy to use and, unlike Plex, does not require its own server.
On request, Kodi taps into shares in the network, which makes it possible to play your own media, but Kodi also offers numerous plugins for expanding the sources. Kodi 19.4 is available in various versions, including for macOS, Windows, Raspberry Pi, Linux and of course Android. It’s the Android version that we’ll have to grab if we want to install Kodi on Amazon’s Fire TV.
The whole thing is now less complicated than it was when the Fire TV was launched. Today you can do it in a few moments – that is, the installation, not the configuration of Kodi. As a first-timer, you might have to wait two or three moments longer. But let’s move on to installing Kodi on Amazon Fire TV.
- Step 1: Download the free App Downloader from the Amazon app store on your Fire TV or PC.
- Step 2: Under Settings > My Fire TV > Developer options, allow the downloader to install apps from unknown sources – i.e. set it to “ON”.
- Step 3: Launch the downloader. Enter the address https://bit.ly/3y72Lao on the start page of the app, Kodi 19.4 is stored here, which is then downloaded.
- Step 4: Install, and delete the downloaded file if necessary – find and launch the Kodi media center in the “My apps and games” section. Complete.
