During his latest podcast, God of War series creator David Jaffe echoed the words recently spoken by Sony Santa Monica officials and, citing Cory Barlog’s video on the development of God of War Ragnarok, discussed the possible postponement to 2023 of the blockbuster action.
From the now usual communication window of his YouTube profile, the father of GOW and the Twisted Metal series underlined how Barlog, in his video celebrating the fourth anniversary of God of War, did not in any way lie about 2022 or reassure him. passionate about the release of the sequel to the Norse Odyssey of Kratos and Atreus for this year.
In the podcast, Jaffe also cites the latest statements from Bruno Velazquez: the animator of SIE Santa Monica has in fact explained that God of War Ragnarok is still scheduled for release in 2022.
Ragnarok in 2022?
Yeah, I think Santa Monica made it crystal clear this possible GOTY gem ain’t shipping this year.
The evidence is RIGHT in front of you- some of y’all just don’t want to see it…https://t.co/kglKBP51yd pic.twitter.com/lDYAQb1gPf

Despite this, David Jaffe urges GOW fans to pay more attention to Barlog as, in his experience, only the top-level executives and most direct personalities of the development team are truly aware of the decisions made by the editors, in concert with the marketing departments, on the timing of marketing a triple-A title and, therefore, only they have the opportunity to express themselves in this regard. Hence the importance that, for Jaffe, the doubts expressed by Cory Barlog himself in the passage in which he emphasizes that “Ragnarok is not ready yet” had.
Jaffe’s call for caution is also echoed by a tweet in which the creator of God of War explains that “yes, I think Santa Monica has made it clear that this possible GOTY-smelling gem can’t be released this year.
