At the beginning of March, Fitbit announced that it was voluntarily recalling all Ionic smartwatches. This is because the battery can overheat and cause burns to the skin. The company is now facing a lawsuit in several US states, which does not think this is far-reaching enough. All products are said to have this effect.
The indictment names two women whose Versa Lite and Versa 2 caused burns. Also, there are a few reports online that sound the same ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Another charge is that several customers may not have received the credit for the Ionic, or only partially received it, but Google mentioned a full refund.
Let’s see what’s actually going on there and how the whole thing goes on.
