Google is not ending the support life of the Pixel 3a smartphones as expected and is announcing a final update for both models. Actually, the May update would have been the end of the day, the Pixel 3a smartphones have completed their three-year update guarantee. Google has now given surprising and therefore very good news to the American media about the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. We tell you what Google had to say.
Pixel 3a and 3a XL: Google brings a final update two months after the end of the warranty
As the group reports, the current May update is not the end of the road. Google intends to distribute at least one more update in the summer. Interestingly, only in July and therefore a month after the next Pixel Feature Drop, which is scheduled to appear in June. We don’t know if this is included in the last update. But based on the published data, we have hope that the Pixel 3a and 3a XL will benefit from a feature update again.
“In May 2019, at the launch of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, we announced that the devices would receive three years of software updates and three years of security updates once our devices are first available on the Google Store. The last update for Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will be available to users by July 2022.”
Pixel Feature Drop: Android 12 QPR3 is possible, but not guaranteed
Unfortunately, experience shows that Google actually focused primarily on bug fixes with the last update. So I wouldn’t necessarily count on the upcoming Pixel Feature Drop. And if it does, all the better. In March, the Pixel 3a still received six of the eleven innovations from the Pixel Feature Drop. And it’s known to run on Android 12.1 (L) right now, just like the newer models.
