Microsoft unveiled an optional update for Windows 11, KB5012643, which was installed and the version number rose to Build 22000.652. This optional update introduces some changes and fixes a bug with a 40-minute delay in booting.
Although the optional update fixed some issues, it also introduced a new issue accordingly. when you enter safe mode, the screen is bound to flicker.
Deskmodder said the issue is not intermittent and can be replicated each time it tries to boot in safe mode and can be resolved after uninstalling the update. If you don’t believe it, try installing this update and booting in safe mode, and if nothing else, you can see the screen flicker.
Microsoft previously said it would introduce an improved Secure Boot component and update to Build 22000.652. There is no definitive information about the bug, and it has not been heard of in previous Windows Insider tests. Foreign media believe that there is an error in the UEFI/BIOS. Microsoft itself has not commented on the issue.
Of course, this is only an optional update, so the easiest way to fix it is not to install KB5012643. Of course, by the time Microsoft releases it as a security update to all users on May 10, Microsoft should have had enough time to locate and fix the bug.
According to Deskmodder, if you’ve installed an optional update and are now having trouble in safe mode, you can press 5 or F5 when you boot safe mode, “The network driver loads through F5, Windows 11 boots safe mode normally, and you won’t experience flickering.”
Microsoft did not mention this issue in the known issues of this release, which may mean that Microsoft is not aware of the existence of this problem either. So, if you have to use Safe Mode, it’s best to avoid installing this optional Windows 11 update.
