According to the latest report, Apple today released the iOS 15.5 Beta 2 version to developers, although this update did not bring important new features, but hinted at some changes that Apple has been making. According to the analyzed code, Apple Pay will soon support the Bancomat and Bancontact card system networks.
Bancomat (from Italy) and Bancontact (from Belgium) are interbank networks similar to Mastercard and Visa. Currently, these network-issued cards are not compatible with Apple Pay, but it seems that this is about to change.
The internal code for iOS 15.5 Beta 2 shows that Apple is working with both networks to make its cards compatible with Apple Pay, Apple Pay’s digital payment platform. It’s unclear when exact support for these cards will be announced to the public, but we think this will happen sometime after the release of iOS 15.5.
Earlier this month, Apple renamed the iTunes Pass “Apple Account Card.” This card appears in the Wallet app, with the balance on the user’s Apple ID and can be used for purchases in the Apple Store, App Store, and App Subscriptions.
In today’s iOS 15.5 Beta 2 beta, more Apple Account Card-related code has been added to the system, confirming that the feature will be available soon.
