It seems that Google has improved the process of setting up or restoring an Android device from a previous one through an unprecedented quick pairing user interface.
The new option appears during the setup process for a new Android smartphone or recently restored device. The option to reset using the “Set up my device” notification pop-up has been replaced with a Fast Pair-style user interface that is normally reserved for Bluetooth accessories and headphones.
Google introduces a new interface to set up an Android device
The new UI will only appear on a nearby Android device if you choose not to restore wirelessly. Previously a notification asking to restore appeared at the top of the display, but it was easy to ignore, but now you will have to use the “Configure my device” command in Google Search for pairing and restoring content if you do not use a USB-C cable to connect your existing and new devices.
The interface that appears also includes a small preview of the device that is sending a configuration request and a “Configure” button that follows the dynamic theme of the Material You design on devices running Android 12 or later.
Overall this is a small change that further simplifies the process of setting up an Android device.
