In the Windows 11 Build 22598 Preview update released today, Microsoft has introduced a series of new shortcuts for Task Manager to make the tool easier to use. If you can make good use of these shortcuts, you can do a lot without a mouse.
For example, you can run a new task by pressing Alt+ N, while Alt+ E allows the user to end the task instantly. Microsoft has also added Alt +V shortcuts to access efficiency mode. If you select a process and press the Delete key, Task Manager automatically ends the process.
On the other hand, if you press the Alt key while the task manager is in focus, you should be able to see the letters that appear next to the buttons for easier access to shortcuts. Microsoft says Task Manager also supports Ctrl +Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab to cycle through pages displayed within the app.
in addition to richer shortcuts, Microsoft has made more improvements to task managers. Microsoft wrote in the changelog:
- MITIGATED THE CPU GRAPH THAT CAUSED THE PERFORMANCE PAGE TO BE STAINED TO SHOW KERNEL TIME, ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT ENABLED. SOME WORK HAS BEEN DONE TO FURTHER IMPROVE THE RELIABILITY OF TASK MANAGERS. FIXED AN ISSUE WHERE THE MEMORY COMPOSITION DIAGRAM WAS BLANK INSTEAD OF BEING ARCHIVED WITH THE APPROPRIATE COLOR.
- MITIGATED AN ISSUE THAT CAUSED GPU GRAPHS ON PERFORMANCE TABS NOT TO BE DISPLAYED IN SOME CASES. THE ICON IN THE STATUS BAR OF THE PROCESS PAGE NO LONGER TOUCHES THE SIDE OF THE BAR. FIXED AN ISSUE WHERE “EFFICIENCY MODE” WAS MISSING FROM THE STATUS BAR OF THE USER PAGE
