ProtonMail for iOS introduced a dark mode and an easy-to-use conversation view interface in a recent update. According to the company, this is the biggest overhaul of the app in the seven years it has been on iOS. In this update, ProtonMail allows users to switch between light and dark modes to make reading emails more comfortable.
To simplify things, the new conversation view groups messages with the same subject line, so you can read the initial message and all subsequent messages just like a conversation. Of course, if you don’t like Conversation View, you can disable it by going to the “hamburger” menu > Settings > Account Settings > Conversations.
The company also said it’s working on a similar redesign of its ProtonMail app on Android. Now, it’s available as beta software, and the company is soliciting feedback through its support form. Once it is satisfied with the new Android client, it will be offered to all users on Android devices.
In addition to the new iOS app, ProtonMail has launched an additional email domain that you can use to send and receive emails. The new proton.me domain name is shorter, so you will be able to create addresses that are easier to distribute. It’s one of the most requested features in the company’s 2022 survey.
