Tesla (TSLA.US) CEO Elon Musk promised at the opening event of the Texas Gigafactory that the highly anticipated electric pickup Cybertruck will go on sale in 2023. It is reported that the Cybertruck was released as early as 2019, but the production time was previously delayed from the end of 2021 to the end of 2022, and in January this year, it was postponed to the end of the first quarter of 2023.
In late November, when Musk was asked about Cybertruck, he said on social media that “2021’s supply chain is a nightmare.” Tesla’s Cybertruck is expected to face stiff competition, with Ford Motor (F.US) and Rivian (RIVN.US) temporarily ahead of Tesla in electric pickups. Ford’s F-150 Lightning is expected to begin deliveries this spring, and Rivian’s all-electric pickup, the R1T, was officially delivered to customers as early as last October.
In addition, Musk said at the opening event that Tesla’s Semi electric truck and robot Optimus are both scheduled to begin production next year. As of press time, Tesla’s U.S. stock market rose 0.20% to $1,059.33 in premarket trading on Friday.
