At its April 5 event, Microsoft announced new security features for Windows 11 that provide phishing protection at the operating system level. With Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, Microsoft provides phishing detection and protection to protect Windows 11 devices from malicious programs.
In the changelog, Microsoft said:
Windows 11 is introducing two powerful new features to combat the most common cyber-attack techniques: phishing and targeted malware. New to Windows 11 is the integration of enhanced phishing detection and protection into Windows with Microsoft Defender SmartScreen.
The new feature will help protect users from phishing attacks by identifying and alerting users when they enter their Microsoft credentials into malicious apps or hacked websites.
Smart App Control uses code signing and Microsoft’s powerful artificial intelligence model to ensure only trusted apps are run, blocking one of the largest attack vectors on Windows by default.
We also look forward to bringing the power of the cloud to hardware with the flexible, updatable Microsoft Pluton security processor. We are excited about the progress of the ecosystem so far.
