According to Reuters, two people familiar with the matter said that the Shanghai plant of the US automaker Tesla will suspend production for four days. Tesla has notified employees and suppliers of the move, people familiar with the matter said. Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Bloomberg previously reported that Tesla’s Shanghai plant will stop production for at least one day starting Monday. Tesla’s Shanghai factory produces cars for the Chinese market and is also an important export hub to markets such as Germany and Japan.
Tesla delivered 56,515 vehicles in February, including 33,315 for export, which equates to an average of about 2,018 vehicles per day, data from the China Passenger Car Association showed.
In the middle of this month, Tesla’s Shanghai plant was shut down for two days from March 16 to 17. At that time, Tesla responded that it would actively cooperate with the government’s request for nucleic acid testing and other epidemic prevention requirements, and at the same time do its best to ensure production and overcome difficulties together.
