According to some rumors from Taiwan and reported on the Korean Clien forum, Apple would be very seriously considering the possibility of producing a video game console so as to enter the gaming hardware market after having tested the software ground with Apple Arcade.
After the partnership with Bandai in the mid-90s for the production of Apple Pippin, the Cupertino house was officially out of the video game market for many years but for over a decade devices such as iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and previously iPod Touch have proved to be excellent gaming devices, leading Apple to launch its Apple Arcade subscription service, which can also count on some exclusive titles from large third-party publishers.
Apple, however, would like to go further by trying to “officially” enter the video game market with a real console or perhaps by turning Apple TV into a gaming console. The American giant would be studying various hypotheses together with external consultants and marketing agencies, moreover, it seems that Apple would have gone knocking on the door of publishers such as Capcom and Ubisoft to convince them to produce games exclusively for a possible Apple console.
We don’t know how much truth there is in these words but Apple’s interest in the video game market is certainly no mystery.
