According to reports, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced today that Tesla will recall about 947 electric vehicles in the United States, mainly because the rearview image may not be displayed immediately when reversing.
Tesla said in its NHTSA filing that the recall involves some Model S and Model X models produced in 2018 and 2019, as well as some Model 3 models produced between 2017 and 2020. The cars were equipped with Autopilot Computer 2.5, running a specific firmware version.
The recall is because the vehicles do not meet federal safety standards for “rear visibility.” Tesla says it will fix the problem with an OTA remote software update.
