Ming-Chi Kuo said via Twitter that the 15-inch MacBook that Apple is rumored to be developing may not be called MacBook Air. A recent industry research report shows that Apple is developing a MacBook Air with a larger screen, about 15 inches in size, which will be sold alongside the 13-inch MacBook Air.
However, Ming-Chi Kuo did not offer possible naming options. But Apple has used the MacBook name on some Mac devices in the past. The last MacBook was the 12-inch MacBook that was discontinued in 2019.
In addition, Ming-Chi Kuo pointed out that while a larger screen is usually more power-hungry, this notebook is designed to use the same 30W power adapter as the MacBook Air.
Predictions for Apple’s potential 15″ notebook in 2023:
1. Mass production in 4Q23 if all goes to plan.
2. Although a larger display generally consumes more power, the design goal is to use the same 30W power adapter as MacBook Air.
3. It might not be called MacBook Air. https://t.co/R3UfxNWZW1— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) March 24, 2022
Display analyst Ross Young noted yesterday that the 15-inch device will arrive in 2023. Ming-Chi Kuo further narrowed the time frame, saying that if everything goes according to plan, this notebook will be mass-produced in the fourth quarter of 2023.
