Apple said that its iMessage service was interrupted earlier on Thursday local time, and the problem has now been resolved. A large number of netizens complained about the iMessage outage on Downdetector.com and Twitter, and the number of complaints began to increase sharply around 4:20 p.m. ET, and even exceeded thousands of people.
Tests found that in some cases, iMessages were not sent at all, and in some cases, pictures were not sent. Earlier this week, Apple suffered a similar outage that disrupted services such as its mobile app store and music streaming service. This is already the third time that Apple has experienced service interruptions in a week.
Apple did not respond to a request for comment on the cause of the recent network outage. Apple and retail employees working from home faced similar technical issues on Monday due to Domain Name System (DNS) issues, Bloomberg previously said.
In several incidents last year, DNS problems caused widespread outages on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, and even airline and banking websites went down for hours.
