One UI 4.1 Smart Widgets

The One UI 4.1 is arriving on an increasing number of Samsung Galaxy models, following the roadmap provided a few days ago. Among the many innovations we have already had the opportunity to talk about (including the photographic ones of the Galaxy S22), there is one that has gone under the radar: these are the Smart Widgets, available with the launcher of the latest One UI on several models. Let’s see what they are and how they work.

Samsung introduces Smart Widgets on One UI 4.1: here’s how they work

Samsung Smart Widgets are available for several Galaxy device models upgraded to One UI 4.1, including the latest Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series. It is a widget that contains multiple widgets, to be scrolled by swiping to the right or left (more or less in iOS style).

To add them to the home, as long as you have the latest version of the One UI Home, you must go to the list of widgets (just hold down on the home screen and select “Widget”). At this point you can click on the first item, which is precisely “Smart widget”: you will find three widgets of different sizes (2 × 2, 4 × 1 and 4 × 2) available. Each is compatible with the widgets of certain applications: the larger one for example with calendar, reminders and tasks, while the smaller one is suitable for compact weather or for the clock.

How to edit the new One UI widgets 4.1

Once you have added the Smart Widgets you can modify them by removing those set by the system and/or adding other compatible ones. To do this you have to press and hold on to the widget and select the desired item (“Remove from Smart Widget” or “Add Widget to Smart Widget”). With the item “Current widget settings” you can instead go to change the background color, opacity and everything that is normally available.

By pressing on the settings wheel you can instead have an eye on the list of widgets set and some smart suggestions, such as automatic rotation (to show the most relevant information) and widgets suggested at the right time based on use (for example for calendar events and any low battery of the connected devices).
