The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) asked Microsoft to provide information on the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and the commission asked for an in-depth antitrust review of the acquisition.
Activision Blizzard said, “On March 3, 2022, Activision Blizzard and Microsoft each received a request for additional information and documentation regarding the FTC review transaction,” the company said.
In January, Microsoft announced plans to buy Call of Duty maker Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion, the largest deal in gaming industry history. At the time, Microsoft said the deal was subject to certain closing conditions, as well as regulatory and Activision Blizzard shareholder approval, and said the deal would close in fiscal 2023, which begins in July 2022.
