Sonos is currently hiring new employees for a so-called “Home Theater OS”, and has various job advertisements online. The job descriptions indicate that it is planned to use apps or ” experiences’ to run directly on the TV.
So far, however, there has been no official statement on the matter. How exactly you have to imagine this Home Theater OS at the end is unclear so far. It would be conceivable that it would be easier to integrate and offer your existing hardware in your own ecosystem.
