Last year, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise celebrated its 30th anniversary, and Sega plans to continue expanding the IP. The movie Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to hit theaters in April, with a third film and a Knuckles-themed live-action series in the works. To further promote the film, Sega is now partnering with Xbox.
Microsoft has unveiled a custom, Sonic-themed, special-edition Xbox Series S console and Xbox controller. This handle looks quite special and new and comes in “Sonic Blue” and “Knuckles Red” versions, plus they have a furry look.
This console and controller are not available for direct purchase, players can only get it through a lottery, and until April 4, follow Xbox on Twitter and retweet the message (with #XboxSonic2Sweepstakes), or use Microsoft Points to redeem in the US.
The open-world 3D platformer Sonic: Frontier will be released this holiday season for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
