iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 were released to the public last week, and one of the new changes in the update is the addition of a “Scan Document” shortcut in Notes, so users can quickly scan printed or handwritten text into this application.
Apple recently shared a video about the feature that shows step-by-step instructions on how to use the scan text feature. On devices running iOS 15.4 or iPad OS 15.4, just open the Notes app, tap the camera icon, tap “Scan Document”, and finally tap the Insert button after the text has been added to the note. A shortcut to Scan Documents has also been added to the Reminders app.
In earlier versions of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, scanning text into the Notes app required tapping its text field and tapping the Live Text icon. iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 also introduce a few other features, including the ability to unlock an iPhone 12 or newer with Face ID while wearing a mask, universal controls on compatible iPad models, dozens of new emoji symbols, a new Siri Voice options, the ability to start a SharePlay session directly from a supported app, and more.
