For a battle royale game, the limited-time mode is a mix of gameplay that allows players to briefly escape the tension of the battle royale without the main game mode becoming monotonous. Now, Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that there will be more limited-time modes for the game.
In an interview with The Loadout, Apex Legends game director Steve Ferreira talked about the future plans for the battle royale game. Ferreira talked about the development of Apex Legends on iOS and Android devices, as well as support for the upcoming next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but also talked about gameplay experiments.
According to Ferreira, the limited-time mode brings “variety” to Apex Legends each season. He said Respawn likes to create and play limited-time modes and will continue to do so.
Ferreira also added that Respawn is using a limited-time mode to try out new ideas, with the goal of seeing how players react to those ideas. Ferreira mentioned that “Evolution Armor” was originally introduced in the limited-time mode of Apex Legends, and the mechanic worked so well and the player’s reaction was very positive, so it was integrated into the entire game.
