According to the latest report, Samsung Exynos 2200 GPU Xclipse 920 may be based on AMD Van Gogh Lite APU design. According to industry insider Gamma0burst, the Exynos 2200 GPU subsystem is internally code-named MGFX0 (M0), and the chip’s data is associated with the Van Gogh Lite firmware.
It’s not clear why the APU codenamed Van Gogh is an X86 processor (used by Steam Deck), while the Van Gogh Lite is a mobile SoC based on the ARM architecture. Samsung’s Xclipse 920 GPU may be a castrated version of the Van Gogh Lite GPU, the former is a 384 stream processor and the latter is a 512 stream processor. Future Xclipse 930 GPUs may feature a full 512 stream processor.
Samsung announced a new high-end mobile processor Exynos 2200 on January 18, using a 4-nanometer extreme ultraviolet lithography process and equipped with a Samsung Xclipse graphics processing unit (GPU) based on the AMD RDNA 2 architecture. Exynos 2200 is one of the products on the market that integrates Arm’s latest Armv9 CPU core. The eight-core CPU adopts a tri-cluster structure design, consisting of one Arm Cortex-X2 core and three Cortex-A710 large CPUs with balanced performance and efficiency. core and 4 small energy-efficient Cortex-A510 cores.
