At this year’s Google for Games Developer Summit, Careen Yapp from Strategic Business Development at Google Stadia announced the new “Immersive Stream for Games” product. Google wants to license the technology to Bungie, Capcom and others. Google said it has also been expanding its efforts to help customers leverage the platform’s technology to deliver games directly to players.
Google has developed a new product called Immersive Stream for Games. It’s designed around all the needs described by Google, including advanced streaming technology, the right tools to port games easily, powerful discovery capabilities, and the analytics needed to optimize your direct-to-consumer business.
Last year, Google began working with early customers to understand their goals and pilot this new product. There are many ways Google can work with customers to deliver experiences directly to players, from demos to full games, to subscription bundles and even entire storefronts.
Now know that the first customer was AT&T. Jay Cary, AT&T’s vice president of 5G products and innovation, discusses the company’s success with its first game, Batman: Arkham Knight. Another game will be released soon on Immersive Stream for Games, which is based on Google Stadia technology.
AT&T said the technology, paired with AT&T’s network, gives AT&T the ability to deliver games directly to customers. Together, the two parties are bringing Batman: Arkham Knight’s “click-to-play” feature to AT&T wireless users to run on devices they already own, without the need for consoles or high-end gaming PCs.
Moreover, for the first time, this game has achieved no download, no account creation, and no password. Just provide the user’s AT&T phone number and start gaming in seconds. The full game is available through the browser and includes bonus content, cloud-based progress saving, and 1080p and 60 frames per second flawless quality.
Thousands of AT&T customers have enjoyed this “Batman: Arkham Knight” experience so far, and AT&T is gearing up to launch its next title on the Immersive Stream for Games. At the same time, AT&T will expand customers’ gaming access on mobile devices.
