former XDA Developers editor @Mishaal Rahman found that the latest Android Auto update adds a new feature that can help users check if your USB cable or interface is working properly.
In the picture Rahman put out, the tool is called “USB Boot Diagnostics”, it can check whether the USB data cable is successfully connected and check the quality of the cable. On the support page, Google recommends using the data cable that came with the phone or something less than three feet long and “not using a USB adapter/hub or extension cord”.
Identifying the right cable is easier said than done, though, as third-party USB ports and cables can vary in quality, which means it’s hard to know which specs support Android Auto. Android Auto is a car driver assistance app that helps users stay focused while connecting with friends or enjoying entertainment projects through Google Assistant.
Which allows users to connect an Android phone with Android 6.0 or above and a data plan enabled to the car, and then use music, media and communication apps in the car.
Bad USB cables are frequently behind Android Auto issues, so in the latest version of the Android Auto app (7.5.121104), Google’s adding a USB Startup Diagnostics tool. https://t.co/biu7BNMeoe pic.twitter.com/lEJNTTWfU4
