Rumors re-emerge about the possible arrival of VRR for PS5, which has been overdue for some time now, following the update made by Sony on the Bravia A90J TVs, which could be linked to a broader operation that can also involve the console.
To corroborate the idea that a PS5 update with VRR is on the way there is also a tweet from Jez Corden, a journalist normally close to Microsoft issues but who seems to have received some interesting information about it from developers, who reported that “PS5 fans looking forward to VRR should finally be satisfied (relatively) soon.”
Corden claims that “Developers should have access to it soon, so probably the first games with VRR support could arrive before the summer”. It’s unclear how VRR affects any developer support being a hardware feature, but there is likely to be a related API to apply in games.
devs should get access soon so prob start seeing first few games with vrr before the summer at the latest i’d imagine.

In any case, we have been talking about VRR on PS5 for quite some time, a feature already present on Xbox Series X | S and also on Xbox One. Rumors spoke of its arrival in March 2021, then at the beginning of 2022 and finally this spring, but in fact, after more than a year from the release of PS5, it has not yet arrived. According to leaker Foxy, the next update should contain the feature in question, so we’ll keep an eye on the updates.
Recall that the Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is a technology that allows you to synchronize the display refresh to the frame rate of the games in a more direct way, eliminating graphic artifacts and tearing and increasing the general fluidity.
PlayStation 5 fans who have been waiting for VRR should have their patience rewarded (relatively) soon.
