Google is again providing a new Gmail, this time there is an update for the web version in our browser. On the one hand, it brings structural changes, but also a new look. I like the latter. But not the new structure for the main menu, because you can no longer collapse the Gmail submenu as before. It’s still possible, but different.
Gmail: Main menu now uses mouseover when collapsed
With the old design, you could collapse the menu to only see the icons of the folders. With the new design, this function is limited to the new main menu, which for normal customers only has email and Meet to choose from. What’s new is that you now have to move the mouse over e-mails when the main menu is collapsed to see the folders. Stupid if you use a device with touch and therefore without a mouse pointer.
However, Google is not yet finished with the new design. You are in the final test run, which is why the new look is currently optional. Before the new design is imposed on all users, the problem described with the main menu should be reconsidered.
