Google is redesigning the official Android app for Google News these days. From now on there seems to be a new start page that is visually and structurally different than before. It is noticeable that the new start page is also visually separated from the rest of the feed with a bluish-grey shade.
The heading “My selection” is significantly larger, and the weather display is also growing in its representation. “Top Stories” is now in blue, and I only see two messages. Below are the “Recommendations for you”, also with only two selected messages. This is a bit different, because before there was a personalized selection with five messages.
Doesn’t really look finished to me. In addition, users may find it irritating that Google puts a greater focus on visuals and less on displaying the available reports. I now only see four notifications at a glance on the Pixel 6 Pro instead of five when I open the app. On the other hand, the new design looks friendlier.
