Instagram now allows creators to appoint moderators for their live streams. The social network has confirmed via Twitter that they are introducing this much-requested feature. Moderators can then remove comments on behalf of the streamer or block viewers if they attract negative attention.
Live streamers can appoint moderators by tapping the three dots in the comment bar and then selecting a moderator from the suggested user accounts, or searching for an account themselves if they have a specific person in mind. Moderators can also block individual viewers from commenting, but they can still watch passively.
Instagram Live has been around since 2016, so the fact that the option to appoint moderators is only now being submitted there seems to snore. But as the saying goes: better late than never.
Streamers + Mods = Dynamic Duo ❤️
We’re launching Live Moderator on Instagram Live, where creators can assign a mod and give them the power to:
✅ Report comments
✅ Remove viewers from Live
